They help us remember the good times, and keep in our hearts and minds experiences we might otherwise forget. Small efforts, big rewards.

Stealing moments in an ever changing world.

Think of all the snapshots we capture throughout our lives. A newborn’s first moments, your little one’s dress-up days at kindergarten, a child’s first day at school. We only need look at ourselves in the mirror to see how fast things change. Capturing important firsts, moments of pride and accomplishment, and even the mundane daily tasks are a way of preserving everything as it is right now so we can look back, reminisce and see how far we’ve comeand how far we have yet to go

Time travel.

We can reach out and travel through time in a way that’s not possible without photos. We can look back upon pictures of grandparents, and great-grandparents, and discover similarities with family members we may never have had the chance to meet. In turn, we can also share memories of family members who have passed on with children and grandchildren who wouldn’t otherwise have known them. They allow us to leave a legacy behind; we can pass them down through our families so that those special moments last and bring joy for generations.

The offline experience in an online world.

In the digital age, it can be all too easy to store our photographs on a computer and never get around to printing them. But how often do we back up and protect our digital copies, not to mention actually take the time to look through them? The experience of scrolling through a computer screen does not compare to the feeling of joy and satisfaction that comes with gently turning through beautifully printed pages in a real book or album.

A thoughtful gift.

Give your family the gift of a premium photo book or album that will stand the test of time and celebrate your memories for years to come. What’s great is that there are so many ways you can go about doing this to reflect your unique life together. One idea perfect for families with young children is making an annual album. When our precious little ones are young they reach new milestones all the time, and they change and grow so quickly. Making an album each year means you can capture more of those delightful moments, and follow your little one’s growth more closely. Once they get a bit older, you can reduce the frequency of the albums to focus on events, holidays and other rites of passage.

Telling a story.

Think about your family’s story and which format will help you best tell it. Options include individual albums focusing on each family member, family history albums which include things like family trees and genealogical information, memoriam books commemorating those who have passed, and any number of other themes. It’s never too late to start the process of keeping your beloved memories alive.

Of course, pictures remain as important as ever but we need to make sure we’re not only doing them, but also doing right by them. This takes us to printed pictures, and to help exemplify that point

Printed pictures are incredibly important as they not only allow us to capture a certain moment in time, but also preserve it for generations to come and so are able to relive the wonderful memory or experience again and again. Even more, printed pictures are shared easily with others, and authenticate our important past.

Capture Precious Moments

Alas, the unfortunate reality of life is that it passes us by way too quickly. Worse yet, we often don’t realize it before it’s too late. One day your bringing your precious little one home from the hospital and the next thing you know you wake up to that “child” begging you to borrow the car to visit their significant other one last time before parting ways for college.

Preserve those Cherished Memories

However, with that being said, truth be told, our captured memories are only as valuable as the way we choose to preserve them. Pictures offer us a great way to preserve our special memories but we need to do it right. If not, our cherished moments – that we thought would last generations – could disappear in the blink of an eye with one quick lightning strike or misplaced magnet.

High Quality albums are best for pictures

That is why the best way to preserve photographs is, in fact, in print form in a high-quality album. Photo albums and photo books today come in a wide-variety of grades, collections, and materials so you can be sure to get exactly what you’re looking for and that it will last more than a lifetime. In fact, if that weren’t enough some of the leading album makers and printing labs offer a lifetime warranty on printed related and manufacturing concerns. Why worry about the relevance of your technology when you can have a printed product sure to last forever?

Easily Shared

The third reason photos are important is the ability to share them. After all, the main reason we go through the trouble of capturing and preserving our memories as photos is to be able to share them later. Not only with ourselves, but our family, friends, and dear ones as well. Yet, here too is why its important to emphasize “pictures” over “images”.

Pictures are often associated with the tangible object depicting a scene, while an image is perceived as a file showing a scene in a digital format. The difference being tangible versus digital. The key to sharing is accessibility and nothing is easier than opening a printed photo album or photo book. Photos are readily available to any and all people no matter their age or capabilities.

Printed pictures are accessible

Moreover, high-quality printed products are actually longer-lasting compared to digital. Just ask yourself; how long before your hard drive, USB, or file sharing site becomes obsolete, closes down, or starts charging you for its service? On the other hand, I still have photos of my ancestors who crossed the Atlantic from Poland to America; photos taken in the 19th century!

Pictures Authenticate

In an indirect, round-about way this takes me perfectly to my final important fact about pictures – tangible photos – they authenticate. As the old adage goes “seeing is believing”; and pictures are the present’s eyes in the past. I believe it goes without saying that most – if not of all us- have family, friends, moments, and/or experiences from the past we would love to pass on to our children. Pictures are the perfect medium for this educational experience. Sharing a story about a grandparent is wonderful, but seeing that picture of them makes the engagement much more profound.

Pictures authenticate

Take myself as an example, to get a little personal again; I was born after my grandfathers had past, but I was always told wonderful stories of them. Yet, for both what I remember above any story – even if told it numerous times- is their respective pictures.

My mother always had a picture of her father on display and I always had a feeling of pride when I looked at that distinguished black and white.

Beautiful Expression

As we see pictures remain as essential as they’ve ever been. They allow us to not only freeze the precious moments, but also preserve them in time to last generations. Remember, though, to achieve that longevity it is important to print your photos and use a trusted, high-quality product. With such your photos – your memories, will be given life; will be easily shared, and will last generations; after all, that’s what it’s all about.

I leave with a bonus reason why pictures – especially printed pictures, are import: expression. Photographs of people are all about capturing the subject’s expression and emotion in a moment in time. Even further, the steps a professional takes to acquire the image and what he/she does after attaining it all account for the way they express themselves and choose to represent their subject.

Pictures express

Photography is truly an art-form in every sense of the word and pictures are it’s medium. Remember; a photographer produces photos – not images. For those professionals- do not put down your camera and print those files stored on a hard drive; for those aspiring or interested – pick up your camera and keep shooting. Capture, preserve, share, authenticate, express; your subject, yourself, your art.

In the way a poem cannot win a Noble prize if it never leaves the poet’s head, a picture cannot exist; cannot affect, if never taken. Yet, furthermore, a masterpiece cannot be with the paint still on the pallet. Have your pictures printed and watch them make a difference.

Do Memories Even Matter Anymore?

Have you ever accidentally stumbled upon old diaries, photo books and albums or a shoebox of photos, and hours later, you emerge from an almost trance-like state from having been swept back into your past? Familiar faces and places drew you into the depths of your memory, leaving you with a feeling of nostalgia and at times, longing. But then life happens. So you snap out of it and throw yourself back into the hustle and bustle of the present. Yet, as you go about your day, you notice a lighter step, a calmness to your mood or maybe even a sense of security and confidence. That’s because memory is not just a faculty that allows us to store and recall information. This journey into your past can conjure up many different emotions — feelings of joy and gratitude, appreciation, sadness and anger. It’s a reminder of blessings, loved ones, victories and survival.

Why is this act of revisiting the past and recalling experiences so important to us? Why do we find ourselves reminiscing about the past, and why are we so afraid of losing these memories? From anecdotal notes to ongoing academic research, it is becoming more evident that memories and reminiscence add value to our lives. Because memories are precious and irreplaceable. They are gateways to accessing our history and help to define why we are who we are today. They are reminders of our firsts — first car, first kiss, first home — and they are treasured moments of lasts — an adored pet, a beloved friend or family member. And in remembering the past, these memories evoke real emotions that affect us in the present. Memories can remind us of happier times and lift our moods. They can keep us company when we feel lonely. They show us that in overcoming hardships and loss, we are strong and resilient.

Interestingly, no matter how vividly we remember certain events or people, research shows that there are a number of variables that can influence how we recall our memories. For many decades, researchers have investigated the impact that emotions, or affects, have on our retrieval of memories, stating that the quality or intensity of the emotions experienced during the actual event can influence the details of the memory later on. Studies note that experiences with more emotional significance than those that are mundane are recollected more vividly (Brown & Kulik, 1977), and research also has found that emotional events increase the chance that they will be stored in our memory (LaBar & Cabeza, 2006; McGaugh, 2004). Another study suggests that there is a complex relationship between memory and emotions, with the effects causing memory trade-offs so that some memories become enhanced with more specific details leading to impaired memory in other aspects (Kensinger, 2011). This study further suggests that the details of a memory is influenced by whether the experience was positive or negative. Furthermore, there are studies showing that our moods can influence the accuracy of our memory recall. One study found that inducing a sad, or negative, mood prior to memory recollection led to reduced false memories (Storbeck & Clore, 2011).

Lucky for us, we don’t have to rely solely on our memories to tell our story. A common method to capture some of our most treasured memories is through photography. It’s true what they say, “a picture is worth a thousand words.” Taken at the right moment, one photograph can visually tell an entire story. Photographs are moments frozen in time that help us to remember the details of the past — details that your memory, on its own, can’t fully retain. They are visible representations of moments from your history that can help build onto your memories, transforming your trip down memory lane into a fuller, and more accurate, experience. Photographs also can help you share your past with others. From flipping through an old photo book or photo album to scrolling through a gallery on your smartphone, sharing your experiences and memories with others can help you connect with them and develop deeper relationships. You’re not only giving them access to your history, you also are giving them a glimpse into who you are and where you come from (physically and emotionally). Being authentic and vulnerable to sharing your personal memories can help build lasting and trusting relationships.

Family is the escape and the solution to everything. They make us feel at home – literally, a house is not a home if there is no one to whom you can come back to after a tiring day, share the excitement of how the day was or gossip about the aunt whom you met downstairs. Remember those childhood days – coming back to home, running to eat snacks & sharing the entire day’s stories to mom and dad between mouthfuls of cheeseballs. It’s your family who makes a house, the home ❤ where mom is the saviour when you are hungry after the whole day hustle, where you can go to your favourite corner or to your bed with your favourite side. While we would want peace to be everywhere there is that angle about siblings – those creatures for whom your emotions run from the  “I can’t live without you” to the “You do not belong in this planet”.

Our family teaches us to share, sets our ground rules of being a normal citizen in this world. Every member of the family teaches us, they are our first teachers. Mom is the soft pillow & the strong pillar who hold the entire house firmly. Daddy treats you with yummy food delicacies over the weekend & the ice-cream party, who holds the umbrella for the family in thick & thin. You don’t convey your gratitude to them, every day, but your world falls down when someone is missing. Ask someone who stays far from a house – a few weeks and they are missing the very things that they can’t stop cribbing about when they are at home – the dal rice that mom cooks suddenly seems like a Michelin star restaurant dish.

Family takes you to the ground, makes you humble & modest,  scolds you, put you down & raise you up, but always have your back! & we all have different ways to love & express to our family. This family day, do wish them & click great selfies. Because we have got great THEMES for you to preserve your “family love “in a beautiful photobook. Yayy, get ready to celebrate your weirdly beautiful family. It’s the time to select all your fam-jam moments and keep them ready to print 😍
